• Summary of Events

• During the reign of Jeroboam II the nation of
  Israel became wealthy decadent. The prophets
  Amos and Hosea shed much light upon Israels
  debauchery (Hos 41-10 Am 518-24).
• Jonah prophesied of Israels territorial
  expansion under Jeroboam II (2 Ki 1425).
• The Assyrian empire was gaining strength and was
  becoming a threat to Israel, Judah, Syria and
  other weaker kingdoms. SEE MAP

• Summary of Events

• During the reign of Jeroboam II the nation of
  Israel became wealthy decadent. The prophets
  Amos and Hosea shed much light upon Israels
  debauchery (Hos 41-10 Am 518-24).
• Jonah prophesied of Israels territorial
  expansion under Jeroboam II (2 Ki 1425).
• The Assyrian empire was gaining strength and was
  becoming a threat to Israel, Judah, Syria and
  other weaker kingdoms.

• Probably about this time Jonah was called by God
  to go to Nineveh (Jon 11-2).

• After death of Jeroboam II his son Zechariah
  becomes King (2 Ki 1429) He did evil and was
  killed by Shallum after reigning only 6 months.
• This ended the dynasty of Jehu that lasted 89
  years.

• Summary of Events

• Shallum only was able to hold on the the throne
  for one month (2 Ki 1513-14).
• Menahem killed Shallum and became king and
  reigned for ten years (2 Ki 1517-22).
• Menahem did evil and followed in the sins of
  Jeroboam (2 Ki 1518).
• A great point of interest in Menahems reign was
  the fact that it was the first time that Israel
  came under a direct attack by the Assyrians (2 Ki
  1519).
• Israel tried to appease Assyria with tribute
  (bribes). The money was raised by an excessive
  tax upon the wealthiest men in Israel (2 Ki
  1520).
• This only served to weaken Israel and strengthen
  Assyria.
• Pekahiah, Menahems son became king when his
  father died.

• Summary of Events

• Pekahiah did evil and did not depart from the
  sins of Jeroboam (2 Ki 1523-24).
• Pekahiah was murdered after reigning only two
  years by Pekah one of his officers (2 Ki
  151525).
• Pekah reigned for twenty years and he also did
  evil, not departing from the sins of Jeroboam (2
  Ki 1528).
• Joined with Rezin king of Syria to attack Judah
  but was unsuccessful.
• Pekah was killed by Hoshea who became the last
  king of Israel.
