• Flowers are composed of 4 main parts arranged in
  concentric rings attached to the tip of the stem.
• Pistil
• Stamens
• Petals
• Sepals

Pistil

• Innermost part of the flower
• Female reproductive structure
• Is composed of more complex parts, the stigma,
  style, and carpel's

Stamens

• Male reproductive structure
• Many stamens surround the pistil
• Home to the anther and filament.
• This is where pollen is collected

Petals

• Surrounds the stamens
• Are brightly colored to attract animals to carry
  out pollination
• They make the flowers smell

Sepals

• Outermost part of the flower
• Protect the petals, stamens, and pistil from rain
  or insects
• Look like small leafs

How Much Do You Know?

• You can either print off the assignment sheet, or
  simply answer the questions on a sheet of your
  own paper.
• Circle yes if the word is a part of a flower,
  or no if it is not

Perfect or Imperfect?

• Flowers can have either male parts, all female
  parts, or a combination.
• All male or female flowers are called imperfect
• Flowers that have both male and female parts are
  perfect
