sodium in the urine. diuresis stimuation of
increased urine output. Decreases total body
water volume. ANF atrial naturetic
hormonedescribed in 1981 is a sodium diuretic
(natriuretic), hypotensive, and has an inhibitory
effect on aldosterone secretion. Thus, ANF
probably intervenes in the short- and long-term
control of water and electrolyte balance and of
blood pressure.
