Report Writing with heartbase
  • Report types
  • Query Tool Allows users to pick fields by
record type, specify navigation by Procedure Date
or Discharge Date, and specify tool to use for
    the report.
  • Ad-Hoc Allows users to specify any fields and
any order of field navigation. Many report
    options are available for output
  • Registry Retrievals Allows entire registry data
sets to output with a simple click of the button.
Report date range is as the registries run
reports, ACC by Discharge Date, STS by Procedure
    Date.
  • Category Reporting Allows detailed report
analysis by a category, like, LOS. One query
produces standard report outputs and formats for
packages like SPSS. Frequencies are produced for
many of the data variables in the report.

3
Report Writing with heartbase
  • Master Impacts To make reports run faster,
master is programmatically disconnected while a
report runs and is reconnected when the report is
    finished.

4
Report Writing with heartbase
  • Startin directory.
  • Many of the report sources are automatically
deposited into the startin directory defined on
    the desktop shortcut.
  • Citrix users should contact there is department
to determine where the STARTIN directory is
located or to change the startin directory

Query Tool
  • Problem/Need
  • Different logical views of data necessitate
    different types of Queries
  • End users have a difficult time doing all the
    relational joins for queries.
  • Report needs can occur almost instantaneously
    with varying report query parameters
  • One super query instead of many smaller ones to
    get the job done
  • Statistics needed from a point and click
    environment
  • Sites have different variable reporting needs
  • Some fields need to be calculated.
  • Required reporting variables change as systems
    evolve

14
Query Tool
  • Solution
  • Generic, adoptable query tool.
  • Interface directly with Datavisor screen painter.
  • Reporting elements are stored in a text file and
    are customizable.
  • Direct interaction with Excel, SPSS, and SAS
which gives familiarity to users and the power of
    those packages, like statistics, summarization,
    and graphs.
  • Provides calculated fields for things like Length
    of Stay and Patient Age.
  • Queries are automatically created based on the
date path the user wishes to utilize, procedure
    or discharge date.
  • Can be saved so the query can be run over and
over again without having to recreate it.
  • Eliminates user need for programming in PQL.

15
heartbase Query Tool
The buttons located on the right of this screen
are utilized to set the criteria for the query
which will be run. Clicking on one of these
buttons will open a screen which allows the user
to select the variables for the query.
16
heartbase Query Tool
Clicking on the different variables will
highlight them. Once the desired variables have
been selected, click "OK."
17
heartbase Query Tool
The drop down menu at the bottom of the ACC Cath
Lab Reporter screen allows the user to select the
type of procedure to collect data from.
Once the desired criterion has been selected,
click "Run Query."
18
heartbase Query Tool
Once the date range for the query has been
entered, click "OK". If needed by discharge
date, check the by discharge box.
19
heartbase Query Tool
The report will go to SPSS by default, use
pulldowns for SAS and Excel formats
20
heartbase Query Tool
You have an option of saving the source code for
this report to a PQL file name.

Ad-Hoc Reporter
  • Easy way to generate data
  • Output can be a report, tabulation, graph, or an
export file. Export Options include SPSS, SAS,
    DIF, MINITAB, EXCEL, CSV
  • Allows field specific picking of field names
based on a member stored in the SYSTEM family
names EASYACC (ACC 2.0) or EASYA30 (ACC 3.04).
These can be edited to add custom fields.
  • No implied joins are made so full relational
    database navigation is available.
  • Walk Thru method for report generation

well as many new report categories that relate to
the CAB ONLY risk prediction models.

Chest Infection, Renal Failure, Stroke, Vent,
Reop, LOS 6 days, LOS 14 days and Any CABG.

64
STS Reports
  • Mortality
  • Enhanced mortality reporting has been developed
based on the STS definition of Death.
  • Operative Death, discharge status of 20, and a 30
day mortality status of Dead result in a
    mortality count on this report.

65
STS Reports
  • LOS
  • Extensive LOS analysis is available by LOS
categories of Admit to Discharge, Admit to
    Procedure, and Procedure to Discharge.
  • Sub categories include MD, Sex, Procedure Status
