Where we are now

• Consultation ended on 10th October
• Total of 10 responses received
• Final stakeholder meeting held on 4th Nov
• Recommendations revised
• Strategy signed off by EDP on 25th Nov

• Challenge 1 Supporting Hackneys People
• Statutory sector to co-ordinate a joined-up
  campaign with business and the Third sector
• Importance of soft skills to employers
• Importance of high level skills
• Differentiated approach in addressing the
  training needs of different groups
• Showcasing real life stories
• Undertake research to understand reasons for
  worklessness
• Provide a list of training provision in the
  borough to agencies
• Co-ordinate IAG services to provide a coherent
  local system

• Improve HE/ FE courses on offer
• Raise aspirations to participate in FE and HE
• Accredit and recognise soft skills developed by
  volunteers
• Encourage employers to recognise overseas
  qualifications and to recruit from excluded
  groups
• Provide training and support in developing
  enterprise skills
• Identify gaps in training, education and work
  experience
• Use the strengths of different providers through
  partnerships between established and new
  providers, including the private and third
  sectors
• Check track record of new providers

• Engage with employers before they move into
  Hackney
• Engagement with employers includes SMEs -
  migrant led, ESOL needs
• The London Employer Accord to ensure that local
  organisations are making a contribution to skills
  agenda
• Sign-up of Team Hackney partnerhsip to the
  Strategy take up of apprentices, Train to Gain
  etc

Next Steps - Implementation

• Take Strategy to Team Hackney Board and the
  Council
• Take Strategy to thematic partnership boards and
  get commitment of members to relevant actions
• Produce an implementation plan ensuring each
  action is owned by relevant partner and built
  into its action plan
