  • North Carolina is known for their tobacco.
    Forty percent of United States tobacco is grown
    in North Carolina. About half of the cigarettes
    that are made in the United States come from
    North Carolina. Six percent of North Carolinas
    work force is on farms. Corn, soybeans, tobacco
    and peanuts are the top crops. The natural
    resources from North Carolina come mostly from
    the forests. Actually, 60 of the natural
    resources in North Carolina come from forests.
    Thirty percent of the job force in North Carolina
    is in manufacturing.

  • North Carolina is famous for a few sports.
    Maybe there most famous sport is college
    basketball. The other sport they are famous for
    is golf. This year a college in North Carolina
    (Duke) is the best team in the NCAA. Last year
    Duke won the National Champion Chip. There a lot
    of great schools in North Carolina. There is
    Duke, The University of North Carolina in Chapel
    Hill, The University of North Carolina in
    Charlotte, and North Carolina State University.

  • Many important events in American history
    happened in Virginia, for example the first
    permanent English settlement was in Virginia. It
    was Jamestown. Also Lord Cornwallis surrendered
    at Yorktown, in 1781, giving America its
    independence. The Confederate Army surrendered
    at Appomattax Court House in 1865, which ended
    the Civil War. Eight presidents were born in
    Virginia. They were George Washington, Thomas
    Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William
    Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and
    Woodrow Wilson.
  • Virginia is named after Queen Elizabeth the
    first. She was known as the Virgin Queen.

  • Virginia has a very busy economy. There are
    agencies of the Federal Government in
    northeastern Virginia which lies next to
    Washington D.C. Offices include the pentagon and
    the Headquarters of the Intelligence Agency.
  • Tobacco, Chicken and cattle are the leading
    products that come out of plantations and farms
    in Virginia. Throughout Virginias history they
    have been known for outstanding tobacco. Coal is
    the leading mineral product from Virginia.

  • There are a lot of interesting attractions in
    Virginia. For example there are a lot of
    historic battle fields. Also Famous old
    churches. Virginia has the best gallery of old
    houses in the the United States of America. The
    houses include George Washingtons Mount Vernon,
    Thomas Jeffersons Monticello.

  • Economy
  • In the late 1860s the people in Nevada
    discovered gold. Ever since then, gold has been
    there most profitable mineral. Nevada relies
    mostly on gold for there mining. Nevada mines
    two thirds of Americas gold. There main crops
    are alfalfa seeds, hay and potatoes.
  • Tourist Attractions
  • There are a lot of interesting places to visit
    if you go to Nevada. Here are the popular
    attractions. Going to Las Vegas is always fun.

    Ghost Towns that can spook anyone. There are
    also historic mining towns that used to be the
    hearts of the mining industry. You cant forget
    skiing. Nevada has great skiing that attracts
    many tourists.

  • On October 31 (Halloween), 1864 Nevada became a
    state. Nevadas knick name is the Silver State.
    Nevada got that because of all the silver that
    comes out of its mines.
