Title: The%20Grading%20System

1
The Grading System
  • For Lab

2
Lab Break Down
  • Competencies 65
  • Quizzes 10
  • Final Comp 25

3
Competencies Break Down
  • 11-19 Comps
  • Each comp has a point system based on how many
    views.
  • 1 View worth 30 points
  • 2 views is worth 60 points
  • 3 views is worth 90 points
  • Etc

4
The view break down
  • Each view is divided into sections
  • 3 major things
  • Shield
  • Marker in light field and the correct marker
  • Right cassette
  • You will have a repeat if you forget one of these
    3 things

5
Repeats
  • If you have a repeat it will result in a 10
    deduction in your grade
  • So instead of 100 being the highest 90 is the
    highest you can make.
  • Each repeat for a single comp (wrist) will be a
    10 deduction
  • 2nd repeat 80, 3rd dont pass fail lab.
  • There are only 6 repeats allowed total.

6
Repeats
  • A repeat will be given on failure to complete 3
    major things
  • A score lower than 75
  • And on your third reschedule, you can reschedule
    twice.

7
  • The rest of the comp is divided into sections by
    points
  • The first film correctly. That means if it placed
    correctly
  • Second, correct distance (40SID)
  • Third, tube is angled or not
  • Forth, the CR is correct
  • Collimation, Light on table, or if you have set
it according to cassette size if it is the bucky,
or you dont collimate at all

8
  • Measures and set technical factors- I want to
know a starting technique and if this patient is
average size and if not how you will adjust
    tech.
  • Patient position- is the patient part correctly
centered to IR and if the view is correctly
position to see the information needed.

9
  • Equipment and handling- knowing your equipment.
  • How everything works, all the locks and buttons.
  • Lining up the light with the cassette.

10
  • Confidence and ease- How well you know your views
and long it takes to perform them.
  • I can tell if you havent prepared for your comp.
I will deduct points for lack of preparation and
    going over time limit

11
  • If the comp is worth 30 points and you miss 3
points on your comp. You will take and divide the
number missed by the total possible
  • 27/30 90 at of a possible 100
  • You will receive a 90 for that comp

12
  • The total for all comps will be 1900 points.
  • I will then take and total all the grades from
each comp together and divide by the total points
    to get your comp grade(65)

13
Example
  • 94 96 90 85 100 75 95 97 91 92 89
  • 1004/1100 91.2 91
  • 91 is 65 of total grade

14
Quizzes
  • 10 of grade
  • On average we have 4 quizzes
  • Each quiz is 100 points
  • Total quizzes is 400 points
  • I the divide total of quizzes by 400 to get the
    quiz grade

15
Example
  • Quiz one 3/5 60
  • Quiz two 5/5 100
  • Quiz three 4/5 80
  • Quiz four 0/5 0
  • Total for quizzes 240/400 60
  • 60 is 10 of your grade

16
Final (Comprehensive)
  • One view final worth 30 points
  • Miss three 27/30 90
  • 90 is 25 of Grade
  • If you forget one of the three things you will
drop to a 69 plus other points missed for your
    grade

17
Average all together
  • Comps 91 (65) 91 times 6559.1
  • Quizzes 60 (10) 60 times 106
  • Final 90 (25) 90 times 2522.5
  • Total 87.65 88 for Lab Grade

18
  • Every one Must take the final.
  • If you refuse to take the final it will result in
    a zero for the grade.
