Project Description

• Florida Department of Transportation requested
  that 45 panel bridges in Districts 1 and 7 be
  prioritized for replacement.
• USF has the responsibility of inspecting the
  bridges and reporting the current conditions.

The Problem

• Problems arising due to use of fiberboard for
  supporting panels on bridge girders.
• Cracking and spalling are evident on many of the
  bridge decks.

Damage Assessment

• Cracks were documented in reports for each
  bridge.
• Spalls were surveyed and will be reinspected for
  growth at later dates.
