Use of Tier 2s

• Use concentrated at Core Tier 2s with active CMS
  support and Physicists
• Bristol, Brunel, Imperial and RALPP
• Starting to work on opportunistic use of other
  Tier 2s
• Will just used for Production on MC
• Would be classed as Tier 3s in CMS parlance

Core Tier 2

• Runs both MC and analysis
• Needs a PhEDEx node for import and export of data
• Tier 2s associated with physics working group(s)
• Host 1 or 2 physics datasets of interest to those
  working groups 30TB
• Plus 30TB for storage of files produced by the
  WG
• Hope to get working relationship between the WG
  and site

Non Core T2s

• Aim to just use them for Monte-Carlo Production
• Uses whatever CPU we can get access to
• Needs a few TB of local storage as a buffer for
  produced output (merged and unmerged)
• Also needs a PhEDEx instance running somewhere to
  export the data. Hope is we can use hardware at
  core T2s for this
