How it works
  • Teamed with SunEdison, North Americas largest
    solar power provider.
  • SunEdison pays for the solar panels and
installation and then sells the electricity
generated to Kohls on a 20-year contract. This
removes the high cost of installing and
maintaining solar panels for Kohls, while
delivering predictable pricing for the long term.
  • Is solar power affected by bad weather?
  • Yes, solar power needs light to function so on
stormy days when the clouds are very thick, solar
production is decreased to around 5-10. When
this happens the main electricity kicks on.

Kohls Green Energy
  • A 990-panel, 206 kilowatt solar array will
generate approximately 50 percent of the stores
    energy.
  • Will offset almost 5.7 million pounds of CO2
    during its lifespan.
  • Is the equivalent of taking approximately 28 cars
off the road each year for 20 years
  • Generating enough renewable energy to power 5,700
    houses for a year.

6
