Synchro Ontario Goals
  • Build on our existing infrastructure for our
    athletes (all levels and constant attention paid)
  • The ultimate goal - a Vast improvement on the
    results of Ontario athletes at high performance
    events and in high performance initiatives.

    athletes
  • 2003-2006
  • Develop Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Clubs to
    ensure success by offering programs which
    compliment one another.
  • Implementing community suggestions, ie. Age in
    T1.
  • Offer quality programs review past programs and
    continuous improvement for success.
  • Continue to build partnerships ie
    Interprovincial Meet and PAC. Host Nationals
  • Review Competitive Structure Review Strategic
    Plan and Update

    in June 06. Continued monitoring to take place
  • Board will be reviewing/updating in November 06.
    Consultant is leading the process.

    Programs will be included/introduced this year.

  • Consider a 13-15 Training Team in 2007 that is
    hosted in Quebec/Ontario

Quest for Gold Program
  • Funded through 2010 Monies. Collaboration
    between Ministry of Health Promotion and the
    Lotteries/Gaming Corporation.
  • Funding is to support Athletes Coaches and to
    provide enhanced competitive opportunities.
  • Overarching goal of the Ontario Athlete
    Assistance Program is directly related to the
    Ehanced Excellence goals of both Active 2010 and
    the Canadian Sport Policy ie. To improve the
    performance and number of Ontario athletes
    performng at the national and international
    level thereby contintributing to the improved
    performance of Canada at international
    competitions.
  • Initiated in January 2006 to fund programs that
    ran April 1, 2005 March 31, 2006
  • Synchro Ontario allotted 9 cards to support
    athletes across 2 categories
  • Buy the tickets to support athlete development at
    the HP level

  • 2005/06 Funds Supported
  • 9 athletes with funds
  • Coach training
  • 5 spots purchased for Level 3 coaches that
    participated in a Mentorship Training Opportunity
    hosted by the CAC.
  • 2 coaches chosen to attend National Team Training
    Camps as Team Managers/Coaches
  • Funds directed to the Leadership Conference to
    support all Ontario coaches.
  • Note coaches supported by this program MUST be
    NCCP Level 3s as this money is Excellence
    driven.

  • Oct 6 - PSO Athlete Selection Criteria to be
    posted
  • Oct 24-27 Meetings with PSO to review
    applications for nominated athletes
  • Oct 31 Deadline for PSO to publish list of
    nominated athletes
  • Nov 15 Appeals Committee reviews appeals
  • Nov 23 Appeals Committee notifies outcomes of
    appeals
  • Nov 30 PSO to re-submit applications for
    athletes after appeals process has been completed
  • Dec 1 MHP to finalize list of 2006-07 carded
    athletes.

Quest for Gold Program
  • 2006/07 Draft Selection Criteria
  • Selection Criteria has been determined and
    Committee recommended Board approval. Board
    approved criteria at its August meeting.
  • Selection Criteria is currently being shared with
    our MHP representative for review and informal
    approval so it can be posted by October 6th.
  • Based on the criteria, Committee has determined
    the athletes who will be nominated this year and
    we will follow the process to do so.

In Closing
  • A lot is going on!
  • Were being noticed in the sport community and in
    fact are being modelled after!
  • Relationships are building with our funder.
  • Relationships are building across Canada within
    the synchro community
  • There is a number of initiatives underway and
    lots of planning that is inclusive to ensure our
    success!
