How we managed to develop a working
relationship with our local strategic Partnership

• The history of the WNDCF
• Started 2000 as the Asylum Seeker Forum
• 2003 Chief Officer of the local voluntary and
  community action organisation (West Norfolk VCA)
  became Chair
• 2004 change of need due the expansion of the EU
  and NASS full obligation of care to Asylum
  Seekers
• 2004 received funding from Community Legal
  Services to produce a Welcome Pack
• 2005 released comprehensive Welcome Pack for all
  agencies within the Partnership

• 2005 WNVCA employed a Diversity Officer for the
  county to support the WNDCF via 2nd homes tax
  money
• Development of new TOR to link into thematic
  Partnership groups with the West Norfolk
  Partnership
• Commitment to support the WNDCF with
  administration and officer time

• Links to Sustainable Community Strategy for West
  Norfolk
• Attendance to County Community Cohesion Group
  2007
• Chair becomes Vice Chair West Norfolk Strategic
  Partnership
• 2007 Cohesion Strategy developed and linked with
  County aims/outcomes
• 2007 Borough Council and Elected Members agreed
  to channel Area Based Cohesion Funding through
  The WNP
• 2008 DCF accept responsibility to direct ABC
  funding

• Promoting Cohesion Agenda through DCF and
  migration issues
• Being ALL to everyone
• Developing honest debate while managing
  expectations of the community
• Connecting to set targets LAA, Sustainable
  Communities Review, Norfolk Ambition indicator
  NI1 yet still remaining true to the basic
  delivery of community ambitions
