• Romans begins with the disabilities of man
• Not just in terms of salvation (chapters 1-3) but
  also in terms of sanctification (chapters 6-8)
• Romans 825 What a wretched man I am! Who will
  rescue me from this body of death?
• Ephesians looks from the top down perspective

The Outline of Ephesians

• Ephesians is still dealing with the relationship
  between Jews and Gentiles
• Gods salvation is about what God did- not Jewish
  or Gentile people did!
• THE CHURCH IS THE GOAL TO WHICH GOD HAS BEEN
  WORKING TOWARDS FOR ALL TIME
• Chapter 2- God is reconciling mankind
• Jews and Gentiles have been brought together into
  one body through the work of Jesus Christ

• Chapter 3- The revelation of the mystery of the
  Church
• The audience to what is taking place are the
  celestial powers in verse 10
• Chapter 4 5- Unity and spiritual growth of the
  Church
• The power for us to accomplish our mission is in
  proportion to the victory Jesus won on the cross

• To accomplish this purpose God gave spiritually
  gifted people to the Church to build upon the
  foundation of the Word of the Lord
• All 4 gifts have one thing in common- all four
  are central to the Word of God
• Chapter 5- Right relationship through proper
  submission
• Chapter 6- Spiritual warfare

The Unique Contribution of Ephesians

• Look at the magnitude of what God is doing!
• A magnitude of time- eternity past to eternity
  future
• The magnitude of who is encompassed- Jews,
  Gentiles and the angelic powers
• So do not minimize your spiritual gift!

• Second, our focus needs to be on the Word of the
  Lord
• Third, spiritual gifts operate in community
• Fourth, all of this begins with the gift of
  salvation found only in Jesus Christ

I Believe in Jesus

• I believe in Jesus,
• I believe He is the Son of God,
• I believe He died and rose again,
• I believe He paid for us all.
• And I believe that Hes here now,
• (I believe that Hes here)
• standing in our midst.
• Here with the power to heal now

• And the grace to forgive.
