  • It is a stimulant, which causes the blood vessels
    to constrict.
  • As addictive as heroin or cocaine

Types of Tobacco Products
  • Made from ground cloves and tobacco
  • Contains more tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide
    than regular cigarettes
  • Eugenol- Chemical that numbs the throat and
    decreases coughing

  • A sticky, thick liquid found in smoke that
    paralyzes the cilia
  • Cilias job is to remove dust and germs as you
    breath.
  • Tar can make cilias job more difficult and
    increases your risk for developing colds and
    pneumonia
  • Tar can also cause fatty substances in the blood
    which can build up in the arteries

  • Interferes with the way the body carries oxygen
    to the tissues
  • Causes the heart to work harder
  • The extra strain can increase a persons risk for
    heart attack and stroke
  • Carbon monoxide also comes from car exhaust

    respiratory infection
