• Made of oil paper, and wood or whale bone.
• Used to protect from weather.
• Word umbrella comes from Latin word umbra
  meaning shade.

• Hold it by handle above or behind head.
• Use to block rain.
• Also blocks sun rays.
• In ancient days they showed rank.

• Old ones made from oil paper because it was water
  repellent.
• New ones made from repellent cloth.
• New ones are small and compact.

• Keeps us dry when going out.
• Keeps us safe from the sun.
• When going somewhere important it keeps your
  clothes, hair, etc. looking nice.
