Random Fun Facts, Yay!
  • Signed September 3, 1783
  • Following the revolution, and leading up to the
    constitution
  • Formal ending to the American Revolution.
  • There are about a zillion Treaties of Paris, so
this one is exclusive to the revolution/consitutio
    n era!

3
Articles 1-4(in comprehendible English ?)
  • The British King recognized each and every colony
    as independent states
  • Established borders and boundaries for United
    States and British North America
  • Granted fishing rights to US fishermen, and
locations of which they may fish at.
  • Debts are addressed and recognized to creditors
    on either side.

4
Articles 5-8
  • Its earnestly recommended to state
legislatures to recognize usurped and confiscated
    land by Loyalists.
  • Loyalists will no longer take land.
  • POWs are freed
  • Great Britain and US will both have access to the
    Mississippi River

5
Articles 9-10
  • Any British lands conquered by the United States
    will be returned without amends.

Established Boundaries
8
Boundary Information
  • Spain wanted land far east of the MS River to
protect their orignial land (mostly, Florida and
    Texas)
  • France wanted to weaken British opponent land
next to the US (their ally) was convenient ?
  • Britain just wanted land in general. They got
what was left (Canada.) Thatll teach them to
    lose a war.
  • Britain gave back usurped land to Spain (but
    with no defined boundaryooh, sneaky)

9
Peace Around the World! Great Britain signed
treaties with
  • France
  • Reinforced previous peace treaties
  • Allowed fishing/fur trade in Canada
  • Spain
  • Returned usurped land (east and west Florida)
  • BUT with undefined boundaries. How sneaky.
    Dispute solved later.
  • Netherlands
  • The island of Sumtra was returned.
  • All at the same time as the Treaty of Paris.
  • Britain just cant win, can they

The British lost because theyre
stubborn!(maybe.)
Why is this incomplete? British negotiators chose
not to stay and/or sit for their half of the
portrait.
Nice symbol for how close The States and Britain
were
