  • I will have the 7th and 8th graders all year
    long.
  • 7th 8th grade students will only receive 2
grades after the semester, instead of 4
quarterly. This is due to the block scheduling.
(The number of Spanish class time will even out
to a quarter at the end of each semester. )
  • During progress report, you will receive and
interim grade. Progress report is really at the
end of the 1st and 3rd terms.
  • Remember, two terms equal 1 term. When students
meet with me on MWF your grade is worth 60 of
your grade. When students rotate to T/TH your
    grade is worth 40.

Classroom Rules
  • Be Respectful...of yourself, of others, of the
    school / classroom environment.
  • Be Responsible...that means come to class on
time come to class prepared with books,
notebook, writing implements (you will not be
allowed to go to your locker once class begins
and detentions may be given to students who do
not have all materials with them for that days
    class) always do your homework.
  • Be On Task...class participation is required, and
can mean the difference between a B and an A
Spanish is the target language so use it dont
be afraid to make mistakes -- mistakes are good.
Staying on task means working on Spanish, not any
other subject, not passing notes, or reading
books. If used in class, these materials will be
confiscated. Students will not be allowed to
leave the classroom except for emergencies.
Students please use the bathroom before coming to
    class!

How to Learn a Foreign Language 5 keys to success
1) Spend the time! By far the most important
factor is how much time you are immersed in the
language. The more time you spend with the
language, the faster you will learn. This means
listening, reading, writing, speaking, and
studying words and phrases. 2) Listen and read
every day! Read what you are listening to. Listen
to and read things that you like, things that you
can mostly understand, or even partly understand.
3) Focus on words and phrases! Build up your
vocabulary, youll need lots. Start to notice
words and how they come together as phrases. 4)
Take responsibility for your own learning! If you
do not want to learn the language, you wont. If
you do want to learn the language, take control.
Do not wait for someone else to show you the
language, nor to tell you what to do. A teacher
cannot teach you to become fluent, but you can
learn to become fluent if you want to. 5) Relax
and enjoy yourself! Do not worry about what you
cannot remember, or cannot yet understand, or
cannot yet say. It does not matter. You are
learning and improving. The language will
gradually become clearer in your brain, but this
will happen on a schedule that you cannot
control. So sit back and enjoy. Just make sure
you spend enough time with the language. That is
the greatest guarantee of success. September
