  • 1350 students on role (420 in the sixth form)
  • Designated school for integration of pupils with
    physical disability

  • The school exists for students
  • Our designation as a Leading Edge School reflects
    our success in enabling the students of all
    abilities to succeed.
  • Our success is not accidental
  • Derived from the high quality of the teaching
    and non teaching staff and the importance placed
    by the school on learning, teaching and
    achievement.
  • Key learning principles
  • There is no known ceiling to achievement
    intelligence can be developed
  • Each student must know what to do in order to
    improve and how to do it! High expectations on
    their own are not enough.
  • Consistency of experience is fundamental. We are
    a team and consistency makes us greater than the
    sum of our parts.
  • Every student has the right to be successful and
    the ability to achieve.

The Bridges Project
  • Children in Year 6 and 7 working on the Bridges

  • A summer project is set for the students
  • Year 7 when students manufacture their designs.

    6 coming to SKHS.

  • Students create their own mark schemes based on
    given criteria
  • Students write specific scheme for different
    levels or grade boundaries.

  • Pairs or groups with equal balance of able and

    Example of work a level / grade above their
    working level provided.
