Biogreen Sustainable Energy Co.
  • Rob Broberg President/CEO
  • St Helens, OR
  • A small town company with small town values
  • Biogreen is committed to renewable energy using
    biomass products

3
Proposed Project
  • Biogreen is proposing a 200,000PPH Wood-Fired
Steam Generation System with a 19.8MW Electrical
    Power Plant
  • The proposed site is in the La Pine Industrial
Park directly across from the Waste Water
    Treatment Plant

4
Project Specifications
  • Plant requires 10 acres of property
  • Plant will employ 20 people directly and up to
    90 indirectly
  • Plant will generate 19.8MW of electricity
  • Plant will generate 200,000PPH Steam
  • Plant will consume 150,000 BDT of woody biomass
    material or 280,000 green tons
  • Plant requires approximately 300 GPM water
  • Discharge water approximately 50 GPM

5
Facility Components
  • 50,000sqft enclosed fuel storage building
  • 10,000sqft Boiler building with 91 tall heat
    exhaust stack
  • 2,000sqft Water pre-treatment building
  • Biomass fuel truck dumping station
  • Covered fuel conveyors
  • Offices

Generated and Required Electricity
  • Biogreen will sell power to a power company or
    broker
  • Biogreen will develop a relationship with
    Midstate Electric Coop
  • Biogreen will require approximately 1MW
    electricity to power plant

12
Steam
  • A steam partner is important to the project
  • Biogreen wishes to promote the remaining 66 acres
of the La Pine Industrial Park, in cooperation
with the city of La Pine, to develop possible
    steam partners
  • Possible partners sawmill, greenhouse facility,
wood pellet plant, any large facility requiring
    building heat (warehouse, office building)

13
Biomass
  • Biogreen has partners and contracts with
suppliers for the biomass fuel required
  • At this time most fuels are being removed from
    private timber lands
  • This project will allow partner wood recyclers to
bid on USFS thinning or stewardship programs

14
Biomass Fuel
15
Biomass fuels include wood residuals such as
  • Forest residuals
  • Small trees undergrowth
  • Slash piles
  • Thinnings
  • Urban wood waste
  • Construction Material
  • Yard Debris
  • Agricultural waste
  • Orchard removals / trimmings
  • Rice hulls
  • Fruit pits

- Biomass Power Assoc., 2009
16
Biomass power plants remove 67 million tons of
forest residuals annually reducing the threat of
forest fires
-USDA, 2005
17
Producing Renewable Energy
18
Sustainable forests create an endless supply of
energy

Water
  • Hoping to use sewage treatment effluent for
Cooling Tower Makeup water (We are testing water
    now)
  • Boiler Makeup water is pre-treated with organic
    or biodegradable materials
  • Waste water returning to sewage treatment has
only higher concentrations of minerals entering
    makeup system
  • There are no heavy metals and nothing is toxic
  • We are starting discussions with the La Pine
Water District to determine the best water
    solution

20
Air Quality
  • Particulate discharge limits have been reduced by
98 in the last 10 years
  • 20 of the project cost is allocated for
    pollution control equipment
  • Exhaust Gas Recirculator
  • Urea Injection
  • Multi-Cyclone Collector
  • 4 stage Precipitate Collector
  • Continuous Emissions Monitoring System is
    required by the EPA
  • During permitting, DEQ will distribute
information and allow public to provide comments
  • DEQ sets specific air emission limits for each
    project
  • DEQ requires air flow modeling

21
Traffic
  • 280,000 Tons of Green Biomass will require
approximately 200 trucks per week or 40 trucks
per day 5 days per week
  • All fuel kept indoors to reduce rolling stock
  • Noise levels will be minimal

22
Benefits to La Pine
  • 20 direct jobs and up to 90 indirect jobs
  • Attract potential steam partner to create more
    jobs
  • Tax Revenue
  • Working partner with Midstate Electric
  • Upgrades to the Water District supply system
  • 100 Construction jobs for 2 year
  • Biogreen will support the local community

23
Why we will succeed
  • We have the Biomass Fuel
  • We are willing to work with the Water and Sewer
District to solve the water availability issues
  • We are willing to use Sewage Treatment Plant
effluent water for cooling water makeup
  • Biogreen is ready to build now
  • Biogreen is utilizing the leaders in Biomass
    consulting
