Purpose of the CHIPP RD Workshop

• Overview of detector RD efforts and plans
• Input for CHIPP, so that it can help with the
  realization
• Identify priorities, at the national level but
  in the international context
• Encourage collaboration
• Schedule is influenced by my prejudice
• Detector RD is not generic, but driven by
  specific physics programs and their requirements
• Organize by project, not by detector type
• Today RD for collider detectors
• Tomorrow RD for neutrino, non-accelerator and
  applied particle physics projects
