Project Summary
  • Key idea to improve the battery market
  • Demand faster, smaller and safe power supply
    that can operate longer
  • Total battery market 20 bln.
  • Capture 0.5-1 in 3-4 years
  • Round A 20M to build a large scale production
    in 2010-2011

3
Market Pain and Proposed Solution
  • Pain (just imagine how many batteries are in the
    world)
  • EnergyPower density
  • Lifetime
  • Cost
  • Safety
  • Supercapacitors provide the highest power density
    and the longest lifetime
  • Power density of up to 5-10 kW/kg (95
    efficiency)
  • Up to 1 000 000 charge-discharge cycles (appr.
    15-20 years)
  • No maintenance no heavy metals
  • The supercapacitor safety is due to its
    non-chemical design

4
Performance and Cost Comparison Various Energy
Storage Technologies

Table 1 Comparison of the cost per cycle between
various energy storage technologies
  • Unlike batteries, there are no chemical
reactions involved but ion migration only
  • This explains by far longer cycle life of
    supercapacitors
  • ? Fig. 1. Supercapacitor cell anode, separator
    and cathode

5
Load Leveling the Batteries
  • Principle trend of SC application
  • SCs can successfully be used for load leveling
the batteries and thus to improve the battery
performance and safety and to extend the battery
    life.

Power
Available power from battery, fuel cell, power
grid etc.

Competition
  • Several well-known Supercapacitor companies
  • Maxwell Technologies (USA) NESSCAP (S. Korea)
    CAP-XX (Australia)
  • Some large corporations have Supercapacitor
    departments
  • Panasonic, Nippon-Chemicon (Japan), LS-Cable,
    Korchip (S.Korea), Batscap (France)
  • The best performance of our pilot prototypes was
    verified by independent expertise
  • Institute of Transportation Studies (University
    of California, Davis )
  • ABB Corporate Research Center (Arboga, Sweden)
  • Higher energy density
  • The highest power density due to the lowest
    inner resistance

Fund Raising
  • Round A is planned to be finished in Q1, 2010
  • The break-even will be achieved in 2011
  • We are looking to build a 100-200 mln. company
    in 4-5 years
  • MA and IPO strategies will be revised after a
significant level of Revenues is achieved
  • Our exit strategy also suggests sharing the
company with key players in the battery market,
such as Johnson Controls, SAFT, or some others.
