Title: Living Water for Liberia
1Living Water for Liberia
- My Fathers House Christian Church International
2Their Faces Are Our Faces
3They look like us
4Their children are like our children
5They smile as we smile
6And smile
7And smile!
8They go through rush hour like us
9Sometimes by bus
10taxi
11Or alternative means.
12They work hard like us
13If a man doesnt work, he doesnt eat, so they
work
14And selling goods and carrying loads.
15But there are some differences
- Really?
- How are we different?
16There just isnt enough fresh drinking water
17Lets Review A Little Background Information
18Did you know
- Liberia was founded by freed American slaves.
- Liberians enjoyed peace for over 100 years before
the war started in 1989. - Civil war ended in 2003 .
- The average household income is about 300.00 per
year. (Thats about 1.00 a day!) - Life expectancy is only 39-43 yrs. old.
Some Liberians have lived without running water
and electricity for over 10 years because of the
war. WOW!!
19During Liberias Civil War
- Half of Liberia's population was displaced.
- A people without a home.
- Water supplies were utterly destroyed.
- Children became soldiers.
- Desperately, people began to search for fresh
water.
- This search continues today.
20While We Walk a Few Yards for Water
21Everyday They Must Walk Miles
Even then, the water collected is scooped from a
dirty pool containing parasites or dangerous
bacteria.
- Carrying heavy containers filled with the days
supply of water.
22Some Have Already Dug Holes In Their Yards
23Liberians need fresh water
24How would you drink this?
Others are forced to draw water from stagnant
swamps.
25 At Times We Refuse to Drink It If
- The glass looks dirty.
- The water isnt cold enough.
- The water fountain is dirty.
- The water looks cloudy.
26No Big Deal Right?
- That depends on
- who you ask
27Isnt Water the Most Abundant Resource on the
Planet?
28When we flush the toilet
- We use the same amount of water that one person
in Liberia may use all day long.
29On Average We Spend About
- 1.00 for a liter of bottled water.
- One American dollar equals 50 Liberian dollars!!
- Thats like purchasing fine wine everyday!
30The Average American Cannot Afford That
31But you can help!
32You Can Bring Fresh Drinking Water to Liberia
33We are the answers to their prayers
- Even now they praise God for the healing that
will occur in their stomachs.
34To Build a New Well
- Our tax refunds are sometimes equivalent to that,
if not more.
- God promises to return it to you 30,60, even 100
fold!!!
35Clean Drinking Water is Like a Miracle To Those
Without It
- Can God perform a miracle through you today?
