COLOR WHEEL PROJECT

• In this project you will take a picture and break
  it down into the colors in the color wheel. You
  can do them in order, or not. You MUST add a
  tint and a shade to the hue for each and every
  color.

Materials needed

• Colored Pencils
• Color Wheels
• Paper 8X11 or larger
• Image of main interest

• PRIMARY COLORSRed, yellow and blue
• In traditional color theory, these are the 3
  pigment colors that can not be mixed or formed by
  any combination of other colors. All other colors
  are derived from these 3 hues

• SECONDARY COLORSGreen, orange and purpleThese
  are the colors formed by mixing the primary
  colors.

• TERTIARY COLORSYellow-orange, red-orange,
  red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green and
  yellow-green.
• These are the colors formed by mixing a primary
  and a secondary color. That's why the hue is a
  two word name, such as blue-green, red-violet,
  and yellow-orange.

TINTS

• Tints are a color plus white.
• Examples Red plus white Pink
• You must have a tint for all 12 colors on the
  color wheel.
• 12 colors 12 tints 24 SO FAR!

SHADES

• Shades are a color plus black.
• Examples Red plus black Maroon
• You must have a shade for all 12 colors on the
  color wheel.
• 12 colors 12 tints 12 shades 36 colors
• YOU MUST HAVE 36 individual, recognizable colors
  to receive full credit
