8
Actual Technological Usage
  • The computers present were not being used by the
    students
  • In most of the classrooms there was only one
working computer being used and that computer was
not being used by the students

9
Instructional and Social Enviroment
  • In each class the teacher basically treated the
    students equally
  • How the teachers handled wrong answers
  • Told the students he/she was wrong and
    recommended another students help
  • Corrected the student and guided student to right
    answer
  • Told students they were wrong
  • Let them know it was wrong, but encouraged them
    to find the right answer

10
Teacher and Student Interactions
  • For most of the schools, the teachers called on
    the students as a group
  • At Menlo the teacher picks students randomly with
the knowledge of who is weaker in each subject

11
Group Work vs. Individual Work
  • Menlo and Norwood mainly did individual work
  • Both classes focused on reading and writing
  • 32nd and Foshay did group work
  • 32nd Street class was a band program (essentially
a group class), but it was also split into
    sections

12
Emotional Response
  • Menlo, Norwood and Foshay provide environments in
which students and teachers could focus and
    perform well
  • The learning environment at 32nd Street was
    compromised by financial, staffing and
    organizational deficiencies
