The Care, Cure, Core Theory was developed in the
late 1960's.

  • Hands on care to patients (assistance in
    bathing, dressing, daily activities, etc)
  • Produces an environment of comfort and trust
  • Cure
  • Physical assessments and care management plans
    for patients
  • Teaching to increase patients understanding of
    disease process and to improve medication
    compliance
  • Core
  • Emphasized the emotional and social structure of
    the patients
  • Therapeutic use of self and use of self
    reflection

  • Considered a paradigm shifter for bringing
    awareness to alternative treatments and for
    helping form the new era of modern day
    rehabilitation medicine.
  • Patented an improved field stretcher.
  • Pioneered new treatments for polio by going
    against tradition of immobilizing the patient to
    passive exercise.
