Ph.D./ M.Phil PROGRAM

• Ph.D. program with Regular 24 Credit Hours course
  work is started in 40 Disciplines.
• Old scheme has been merged into the regular
  scheme.
• Linkages with industry for Doctorial Students.
• In order to further support financially, Ph.D.
  students are allowed for part time teaching to
  B.A/B.Sc. (Hons) M.A. / M.Sc. Classes.

SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED

• Approximately 40 students have availed
  scholarships in one year.

• Amount per scholarship has been increased from
  Rs. 9,000/- to Rs. 12,000/-

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

• Increase in Faculty Development fund from Rs.
  40.0 M to Rs. 65.0 M.
• Completely transparent and merit based system of
  selection of teachers
• Increase in Ph.D. allowance to Rs. 10,000/-
• Grant of grade 18 to Ph.D. lecturers
• Tenure Track System is being applied gradually
• Centre (HRDC) was established in Feb. 2002 with
  the objective of faculty development.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

• Evaluation of Teachers by Students
• At present only 205 out of 634, i.e. 32 of our
  regular faculty members hold Ph D degrees. Plan
  to raise it to 70 in the next five to six years.
• Currently 117 PU regular faculty members are
  doing PhD degrees.
