Goals and Objectives
  • Purpose Investigate how PACOM could develop an
    integrated long term program to further Theater
    Security Cooperation with the country of Vietnam.
  • Program CAW investigated the use of a
    humanitarian program and performed a country
    assessment on Vietnams search and rescue
    capabilities.

    capacity of Search and Rescue capability that is
    consistent with international standards

    Education and Training
  • 3. Bilateral Exchange Exercise
  • Supported integration of Vietnam policy framework
    for SAR and disaster management in conformance to

    information exchange that included ICS and NIMS
    training - Hanoi
  • Reviewed curriculum and observed SAR training at
    the VINASARCOM School in Nha Trang
  • Coordinated military delegation visit
  • PACOM HQ high level meeting with Admiral Keating
    and Vietnam senior military delegation to advance
    program
  • Washington DC to visit USCG and various other
    agencies
  • Coordinated a military delegation to observe
    MAKANI PAHILI exercise in Hawaii to learn how the
    US responds to a natural disaster

  • Observed Vietnam TTX and demonstration exercise
    in Mekong Delta (First time U.S. has observed an
    exercise of this magnitude since the end of
    Vietnam war)
  • Broadened the relationship between the U.S. and

    and engagement with Vietnam on Search and Rescue
