• Paid positions for students under age 18
• Now in place for all bond measure funded

• San Jose/Evergreen Community College District
• Foothill/DeAnza Community College District

Planning to meet industry needs

• Began meeting initially to develop a grant
  proposal, but met for a full year to
• Develop relationships
• Understand each others needs, capabilities, and
  constraints
• Learn fully what the industry needs were

SB 70 Strengthening Career and Technical
Education Programs

• Submitted a successful proposal, funded for 2
  years, to
• Increase the number of students in construction
  education and training programs
• Improve current programs, and
• Create a model that can be used by other counties
  throughout California

  construction management
• Will meet the needs of industry for professionals
• Will provide a pathway from apprenticeship to
  degree, and improve the image of careers in the
  trades
