- Gods covenant with David (2 Samuel 7)
- David told Nathan the prophet that he wanted to
build God a house, i.e., for the ark - God told Nathan that David was not to build His
house, but God gave him 3 promises - Davids son (Solomon) would build His house
- Davids family would be a royal dynasty
- Davids seed throne would be established forever

- God Promised a Savior
- He would come through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,
Judah David - He will reign on the throne of David forever
61 Kings 210-12
So David rested with his fathers, and was buried
in the City of David. The period that David
reigned over Israel was forty years seven years
he reigned in Hebron, and in Jerusalem he reigned
thirty-three years. Then Solomon sat on the
throne of his father David and his kingdom was
firmly established.

- He covered vast varied subjects
- Solomon also wrote Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes,

- King Hiram, a longtime ally of David, sent
congratulations to Solomon - Solomon responded by asking for help
- He requested cedar logs, men to cut timber,
craftsmen of metals yarn
201 Kings 58-9
Then Hiram sent to Solomon, saying I have
considered the message which you sent me, and I
will do all you desire concerning the cedar and
cypress logs. My servants shall bring them down
from Lebanon to the sea I will float them in
rafts by sea to the place you indicate to me, and
will have them broken apart there then you can
take them away. And you shall fulfill my desire
by giving food for my household.
