  AGS upgrade - proton therapy -
  alternative muon and proton FFAGs

• Non-scaling FFAGs have three unique features -
  multi-resonance crossings - huge momentum
  compaction - asynchronous acceleration
• Proof-of-Principle electron machine planned to
  test
• Collaboration of 14 institutes formed to build
  it EU, US, Canada, Japan
• Location Daresbury Laboratory, using ERLP
• Two correlated proposals for funding
  submitted - BT mainly for hardware(?) -
  FP6 mainly to build a core of EU experts
• If e-model successful, well be famous plus
  big impact on future accelerator design
