- Provide a user-friendly place for teachers and
students to learn how to navigate their way
around the Collaboratory - Weave technology across the sixth grade
curriculum - Create opportunities to strengthen and publish
student writing

- Integrate information literacy skills into
curriculum - Introduce students to a variety of authors
- Strengthen writing skills
- Provide an opportunity for research using the web

- Students began the unit by writing letters to
their authors requesting information
26Research was completed on the authors by using a
Cybrary of web sites

worked with small groups to help fill out the
storyboard and put the information into the
students own words
29Students were required to read a minimum of one
book by their author
30Students utilized PC6 computers to type a review
of one of their books

students used their storyboards to create a
PowerPoint presentation about their authors
34Students utilized the SmartBoard to share their
PowerPoint presentations in front of an audience
of parents, students, and administrators
35Author Spotlight presentations were contributed
to Media Space to be viewed by parents from home
36A student-created author survey was taken by the
class and urged to be shared with parents at home
