Out to Lunch

• When the caterpillars first hatch they eat their
  eggshell. Then they eat milkweed. Each day the
  caterpillars eat more and more milkweed.

Numbers numbers numbers

• It takes them 2 to 3 days to hatch from their
  egg. Monarch caterpillars shed 5 times . Each
  time they get bigger after they shed. On their
  last shed they they become a chrysalis very
  quickly, but then they stay in it for about two
  weeks.

Dont eat me!

• Monarch caterpillars eat milkweed so they are
  poisonous to predators. That way if the birds
  arent warned by colors it will give them a
  stomach- ache .
