A Commitment to our Mission

• The Sutton Public Schools, in partnership with
  parents and the community, are committed to
  providing a challenging and effective
  technology-rich learning environment to foster
  highest student achievement. We strive to
  maintain appropriate and valid technology
  systems, which promote critical thinking,
  analytical decision-making, and a high performing
  workforce. This plan mandates continual
  technological improvements, throughout the
  district, in order to compete in a
  technology-based society.

  daily operations and the missions of the Sutton
  Public Schools. To compete with the demands of an
  increasing technological society, the district

• Promote improvement of technology through the
  Baldrige PDSA cycle.
• Create a dynamic and flexible plan customized to
  reflect the changing needs of the district.
• Maintain and improve the electronic
  infrastructure
• Provide ongoing professional development targeted
  to address needs of our administrative and
  learning community.
• Work to ensure funding that is crucial to support
  all aspects of technology needs for the greatest
  impact.
• In order to achieve this vision, we will
  strive to nurture and enhance the collaborative
  efforts of stakeholders towards fulfilling the
  technological aspirations and goals of the
  district.

Grades PreK-2

• The Pre-School through Grade 2 Technology
  Curriculum is Designed to
• Explore digital tools and media rich resources to
  demonstrate creativity
• Explore ways to communicate and work
  collaboratively in a technology based environment
• Explore ways to use digital tools to gather,
  evaluate and use information
• Explore ways to conduct research, analyze data
  and solve problems using current technology
• Practice positive, safe and responsible use of
  information and technology tools
• Practice the use of a variety of appropriate
  technology tools, concepts and applications

Grades 3-5

• Students will be expected to
• Create original works and innovative products
  using technology
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with
  learners of other cultures using a variety of
  digital media tools
• Conduct research then evaluate, analyze and
  synthesize data from various media sources
• Investigate and solve authentic problems using
  digital instruments and devices
• Demonstrate responsible collaborative learning
  strategies in the use of information technology

Grades 6-8

• The Middle School Technology Curriculum helps
  students develop and secure technological skills
  and concepts experienced in previous grades and
  introduces the following standards
•  Use models and simulations to explore complex
  systems and issues
• Identify trends and forecast possibilities
• Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers,
  experts or others employing a variety of digital
  environments and media
• Communicate information and ideas effectively to
  multiple audiences using a variety of media
  formats
• Troubleshoot systems and applications.
• Transfer current knowledge to learning of new
  technologies.

Grades 9-12

• The Grades 9-12 Educational Technology Curriculum
  is designed to
• Master the technological skills and concepts
  developed through their previous education,
• Make the use of technology skills and concepts
  intuitive to the learning process,
• Ensure students carry skills across subjects and
  grade levels,
• Enhance and enrich the academic curriculum
  through exposure and development of discipline
  specific technologies, and
• Provide opportunities for developing advanced
  and in-depth study into different technologies.
