Workplace Wellness
  • Germs Are Everywhere

An observational study by the American Society
for Microbiology found that as many as 33 of
public restroom users did not wash their hands
54 dont wash their hands long enough to
effectively remove germs and dislodge dirt. The
CDC and SDA recommend washing with soap for at
least 20 seconds
43 surveyed seldom or never wash their hands
after coughing or sneezing. One of the most
common ways people catch colds is by rubbing
their nose or eyes after touching someone or
something contaminated with the cold virus
32 dont always wash their hands before eating
lunch. That means the stuff you touch, such as
the door handle and the elevator button, can
harbor germs that can make you sick

Hand Hygiene
  • Maintaining a healthy immune system is an
    important way to resist infection
  • Many germs that lead to infectious illnesses are
    spread by the hands
  • Proper hand hygiene kills the germs that are on
    your hands
  • It helps maintain your skin as a natural barrier
    against disease
  • Ethyl alcohol is the most reliable ingredient in
    proper hand hygiene
  • Alcohol applied to the skin is among the safest
    known antiseptics
  • Alcohol is approved as the active ingredient in
    antimicrobrial products by the FDA
  • Because alcohol evaporates completely, there is
no alcohol left behind to promote germ
    adaptation
  • Proper Hand Hygiene - Statistics Show
  • 21 reduction in absenteeism in a workplace
    setting
  • 50 reduction in absenteeism in schools
  • 30 reduction in infection rates in long-term
