SCHOOL SPORTS CO-ORDINATOR PROGRAMME The Poole
and East Dorset School Sports Association has 3
partnerships within its area. Poole SSP Wimborne
SSP Purbeck and Christchuch SSP

SSCO partnerships are families of schools that
come together to enhance sports opportunities for
all. The Partnership Development Manager (PDM)
oversees the project and is normally based at a
specialist sports college.

• Each SSCO partnership receives a grant from the
  government of up to 270,000 each year.
• This pays for a full time Partnership Development
  Manager (PDM)
• The release of one teacher from each secondary
  school for two days a week to allow them to take
  on the role of School Sport Co-ordinator SSCO
• The release of one teacher from each primary or
  special school for up to 12 days a year to allow
  them to become primary link teachers (PLT)

NATIONAL GOVERNMENT TARGETS
By 2003 there will be 1,150 SSCOs
By 2005 there will be 2,400 SSCOs
By 2007 there will be 4,000 SSCOs
