SLOVAK AGRICULTURE
  • Agrictultural land covers 2 436 879 ha of
    Slovakia, which is almost ½ of total area of
    Slovakia.There is 0,45 ha farm land and 0,28 ha
    arable land per head.
  • Forest soil fund is 2 004 100 ha, which is 41 of
    total area of Slovakia. There is 0,37 ha of
    forests per head.

  • Cereals, sugarbeet, vine, tobacco, fruits

  • Due to creation of the large agricultural
    cooperatives loosing of the traditional bind to
    the land
  • No private farms, no private business
  • Moving of rural population to the towns due to
    the job opportunities in industry
  • To adjust the village to the town loosing of
    traditions, pride
  • System of central and vanishing villages

  • Small local initiatives (heritage, environment)
  • Creation of the associations, unions of villages
    with the goal of implementation of the particular
    project (infrastructure, mainly gas supply lines
    for heating)

  • PHARE programme (since 1993) EU programme,
    institution building, infrastructure improvement,
    cross-border cooperation, support of private
    sector, regional development

AGENCY FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Agency for rural development was established
    01.04.1995 by Decree of the Ministry of
    Agriculture. Agency is semi-budgeted, and
    non-profit organisation.
  • Mission
  • To collect, analyse, and disseminate information
    in rural development
  • Consulting services to rural people for
  • supporting the economic activities
  • Project preparation trainings
  • Information dissemination
  • Educational activities, promotion
  • of small rural businesses and
  • micro-regions

National rural development network (NRDN)
  • Created according to the European Council
    Regulation 1698/2005
  • The networks central office is integrated in
    structure of Agency of Rural Development since
    28.10.2008.
  • 7 Regional coordinators to implement regional
    activities
  • Activities of NRDN
  • To collect, analyse, and disseminate information
  • To monitor data in rural development
  • To provide information of rural development
  • To organise courses, seminars
  • To prepare educational programmes
  • To support national and multinational cooperation
  • To create a contact point for activities of
    Leader
  • To organise regular meetings of NRDN

    other state institutions
