Title: If asked to identify ones associated with Terrorism, who might we name

1
If asked to identify ones associated with
Terrorism, who might we name?
  • Usama bin Laden
  • Musab al-Zarqawi
  • Al-Qaeda
  • Hamas
  • The IRA (Irish Republican Army)
  • Satan??

2
Spiritual Terrorism
  • Satan is a Terrorist.
  • Fear is one of the weapons he uses against us.

3
Spiritual Terrorism
  • Fear of Mockery Rejection
  • Hostility towards people of God has increased
    significantly in our culture.
  • One political organization, seeking to gain
popular support, recently attacked a rival
organization as being a Christian party.
  • Christians may be intimidated into silence,
hiding their Light for fear of mockery and
    humiliation.

4
Defeating Terror
  • We must remember Jesus words.
  • "Blessed are you when people insult you and
persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil
against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward in heaven is great for in the
same way they persecuted the prophets who were
    before you. (Matthew 511-12)
  • Remember what we have! - I am not ashamed of the
gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation
to everyone who believes. (Romans 116)

5
Spiritual Terrorism
  • Fear of Failure
  • We are not ashamed of the Gospel, but fear
    paralyzes us into inaction.
  • Any enthusiasm for the Lord is overwhelmed by
fears of risks and obstacles ahead.
  • The 1-talent man in Matthew 25 is a casualty of
this kind of Terrorism. He frightened himself
    into doing nothing.

6
Defeating Terror
  • We must remember Ezekiel 24 7
  • "I am sending you to them who are stubborn and
obstinate children, ad you shall say to them,
'Thus says the Lord God.'... And you, son of man
neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their
presence, for they are a rebellious house. But
you shall speak My words to them whether they
listen or not, for they are rebellious.
  • The Great Prophet Ezekiel was called to Teach,
    not to succeed.

7
Spiritual Terrorism
  • Fear of Personal Consequences
  • This cowed the Israelite soldiers facing Goliath.
  • The Bible states When all the men of Israel saw
the man, they fled from him and were greatly
    afraid. (1 Samuel 1724)
  • We may fear consequences with our jobs, our
security, our families, our social reputations,
    etc.

8
Defeating Terror
  • Remember the words of Jesus and Paul.
  • Do not worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or
'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for
clothing?' But seek first His kingdom and His
righteousness, and all these things will be added
    to you. (Matthew 631-33)
  • I count all things to be loss in view of the
surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,
for whom I have suffered the loss of all things,
and count them but rubbish so that I may gain
    Christ. (Phil. 38)

9
Spiritual Terrorism
  • Fear of Inadequacy
  • We come to fear we are not up to the job.
  • Not talented enough, too shy, too timid, we
excuse ourselves while assuming there is someone
else able to do it better.
  • This fear cowed Moses to inaction when God first
    called him.
  • Gideon held this fear when called to save Israel.

10
Defeating Terror
  • We must remember Pauls words.
  • I can do all things through Him who strengthens
    me. (Philippians 413)
  • All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable
for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for
training in righteousness so that the man of God
may be complete, equipped for every good work.
    (2 Timothy 316-17)

11
Spiritual Terrorism
  • Fear of Mockery Rejection
  • Fear of Failure
  • Fear of Personal Consequences
  • Fear of Inadequacy

12
Defeating Terror
  • Even if you should suffer for the sake of
righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear
their intimidation, and do not be troubled. (1
    Peter 314)
  • There is no fear in love but perfect love casts
out fear, because fear involves punishment, and
the one who fears is not perfected in love. (1
    John 418)
