What is an ARS?
  • Audience Response Systems (ARS) are
    computer-based interactive response systems.
  • TurningPoint is one type of ARS that integrates
into Microsoft PowerPoint to help make teaching
    presentations more interactive.
  • Teachers can utilize questions, surveys, opinion
polls, and games built directly into Microsoft
    PowerPoint.

4
What is an ARS? (part II)
  • TurningPoint allows (requires?) every student in
class to actively participate via an input device
    (keypad / remote).
  • The teacher can create, deliver, assess, and
record within the same ARS program.
  • The ARS results are immediately displayed (
recorded) for further review and discussion.

5
What are the Benefits?
  • ARS encourages students to be actively engaged in
    the learning process.
  • ARS provides instant feedback to students and
    teachers.
  • Teachers use ARS to check for group understand of
the entire class or each student at the point of
    instruction.

6
How does it work?
  • ARS allows the Teacher to ask a question using
    PowerPoint.
  • Each student responds using an individual
    response device (keypad).
  • The generated responses are immediately recorded
    displayed.
