Year 8 Cromwell Things to do
  • 1. Create a book designed for KS2 children (8-9
    yr olds) which explains how you feel Cromwell
    should be remembered.
  • The aim of the book is to help young children
    come to some understanding of who Cromwell was
    and how best he should be remembered.
  • It is important that you remember this book is
    aimed at younger students and therefore you may
    need to carefully select what you chose to put in
    your book the language you use must be
    understood by younger students.
  • YOUR BOOK MUST INCLUDE
  • A title
  • Pictures and writing on each page
  • As many pages as you like but the following
    questions must be addressed
  • How did he become Lord Protector?
  • How successful was Cromwell as a leader?
  • Was Cromwell a war criminal in Ireland?
  • Was Cromwell Mr. Fun or Mr. Grumpy?
  • What happened to Cromwells head and when was he
    most/least respected?
  • What do you think of Oliver Cromwell overall?
  • Bibliography list all the resources you used
    including websites.

  • 2. Produce a written commentary to go with your
    Childrens book to explain why you have designed
    it the way you have.
  • This should be at least 1 side of A4. The aim of
    this commentary is for you to explain why you
    have chosen to include what you have and why you
    have left out other factors. This should include
    an explanation of your books title. It is also
    important that in your commentary you give your
    opinion on how best Cromwell should be
    remembered. Was he a hero, a villain, a ruthless
    leader, a loving father? Is it that simple?
