3Student Conduct
- The library is intended as a quiet area for
reading, studying and research, not a place for
social gathering. - Smoking, eating and drinking are not permitted in
the library. - Please turn off cell phones and beepers
- No library materials should ever be taken from
the library without first being properly checked
out.
4Why Cant I Eat/Drink in Library
- Food and drink attract vermin, like rats, mice,
cockroaches, etc. - Spills from food/drink can cause permanent damage
to electronic equipment and carpet - Cleanup is costly
5Reference Collection
This is where the encyclopedias,
directories, dictionaries and handbooks are
shelved. They have REF in red, or black, on top
of the label and are Library use only.
6Main Collection
The main collection are books that can be
checked out. The reference and main collection
use the Library of Congress Classification
System.
7Reserve Materials
- The books are placed at the circulation desk by
instructors for student use - Most reserve materials must be used in the
library - You must present your current student ID, or
picture ID, for circulation to hold while using
material
8Intercampus-Loan
- Students and staff may request that circulating
book from other DCCCD campuses be sent to
Mountain View for Checkout
9Inter-Library Loan
- Students and staff may request that books or
articles that cannot be found within the district
be sent to Mountain View from a distant library
at https//library.dcccd.edu/illbS10.
10TexShare Card Program
- Students and staff may apply for a TexShare card
which will enable them to directly check out
books from other participating TexShare
Institutions.
11Services
- Reference assistance is provided on an individual
basis by the librarian on duty. - The online catalog can be searched to find
library materials within the district at - Numerous online Databases can be searched for
information on various subjects. - Internet Access and the Microsoft Office Suite
are available on selected Computers. Printouts
are 5 cents per page. - Audiocassette listening and VHS video viewing are
available on the first level. - A Magni Sight explorer machine is available for
the visually impaired - Library tours are provided by student sign ups
during the first week of the Fall and Spring
semesters. - 1 group and 2 individual study rooms are
available on the 1st level - Group video viewing is available in the group
study room

- Photocopies can be made for 5 cents a page
13Printing/Copying
- To print or copy, use must first create an
account, through the Pay-Per-Print system,
located across from the reference desk. - This machine will only take one/five dollar
bills, so you will not be able to use change or
debit/credit cards.
14Circulation Desk (Check-out Desk)
- Located on the 1st floor.
- A current DCCCD ID, or A picture ID, is required
to check out library materials. - Up to 10 books can be checked out for a 3 week
period. Reference books, reserve books,
magazines, and newspapers can not be checked out.
15Circulation Desk (continue)
- Library materials may be renewed 1 time for
another three weeks, or until the last day of the
semester. - All library obligations, e.g., overdue materials,
unpaid fines, lost books, must be cleared before
the end of semester OR, students will not be
allowed to obtain grades or transcripts, register
for the next semester, graduate and will be
denied library privileges.
