• Objective Find out how much electricity is being
  used after hours that can be controlled by
  university employees
• Method
• Randomly selected rooms from 3739 suitable rooms
  on campus
• Recorded status of lights and appliances in each
  room

• The Findings
• 17 rooms (22) had nothing going
• 69 of 78 rooms (88) had no lights on
• 98 of 364 items were fully running

• The Findings continued
• 209 of 364 items (57) were on at the device

• Computer Shutdown System
• 400 currently in system
• 4,500 computers on campus
• Shut down at 6.15pm or later can cancel it
• Wake up 6.30am Mon, 7.30am Tue-Fri
• On for 53 instead of 168 hours
• All computers on the system 36,300
