New system
  • P.E., Sport and Dance follow a slightly different
    format
  • It is developmental and not linked to capability
    or other performance measures
  • It involves all teaching staff
  • Build and consolidate existing good practice
  • Principle of confidentiality between observer and
    observee

    opportunities for celebrating and disseminating
    effective practice

    and the peer observation of teaching

  • Changed the questions for the pre-observation
    discussion
  • During the teaching session the observer used the
    pre-observation sheet as a guideline to work from
    to offer feedback on the agreed areas

COMMENTS
  • It was really beneficial to observe another
    member of staff. I really enjoyed this part of
    the process
  • It was harder to observe than to be observed
  • The discussion afterwards was helpful in that it
    raised other issues as well

CHANGES
  • The process will start again in September with
    amended forms
  • A clearer structure of how the outcomes can feed
    into the PDPR process
  • Move to school clusters and use other methods of
    review as well as observation of teaching
