Our School Day
  • Students at John Ford begin their classes a 800
    a.m., students are dismissed at 320. John Ford
    dismisses at 240 on Wednesday.
  • There are 5 periods in a day, including lunch.
  • The subjects consist of Math, English, Science,
    Social Studies, Algebra I, English I, and Related
    Arts.
  • Home of the Mighty Trojans.

Physical Education/Health
  • In Physical Education, the students will focus on
    personal fitness. The health portion deals with
    all aspects of health emphasizing decision making
    skills, values, assertiveness, adolescent growth
    and development and much more.

Chorus
  • Chorus is a year long course offered to seventh
    and eighth grade students. This course is
    designed to help students gain musical knowledge
    by providing them with the opportunity to learn
    and perform a variety of music. Tryouts are
    necessary to become part of the chorus and
    attendance at concerts is a requirement of the
    course.

Computer
  • Computer is a semester course offered to sixth,
    seventh, and eighth grade students.
  • A major goal for all computer classes is for all
    students to become creative and effective users
    of productivity tools at the computer as well as
    learn to keyboard.
  • Students gain knowledge through the use of
    MicroType, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the
    Internet.

Music
  • Music is a semester course offered to sixth,
    seventh, and eighth grade students. This course
    is designed to help the students gain music
    knowledge through the elements of music and
    develop an appreciation for music.

Family and Consumer Science
  • Family and Consumer Science is a semester course
    that is open to students in sixth, seventh, and
    eighth grades. This course covers Life Skills
    such as planning, preparing, serving nutritious
    meals/snacks, grooming/care of the body,
    constructing sewing projects, etiquette/good
    manners/dining out skills, child care/baby
    sitting, clothing care and repairs,
    budgeting/managing money, consumer and teen
    issues, problem solving and decision making
    skills.

MAPPS
  • MAPPS is offered to students as a yearly program.
    The purpose of Medicaid Pregnancy Prevention
    Services is to prevent and reduce the incidence
    of teen pregnancies. Age-appropriate discussions
    which encourage abstinence until marriage are
    emphasized.

Visual Art
  • Visual Art is a semester course available for
    grades 6, 7, and 8. Students will explore a
    variety of different media and technique in order
    to enhance their experience in this related arts
    class.
