Education Outreach Activities

• Faculty from CCNYs New Multidisciplinary
  Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science
  Program make visits to Bronx high schools.
• BCC and CCNY faculty meet with high school
  principals, science teachers, guidance
  counselors, and students.
• Continued sponsorship and collaboration with
  Bronx High School of Science teachers and
  students as participants in the Regional
  /National Ocean Science Bowl Competition.

Education Outreach Activities

• Ongoing collaboration between BCC faculty, high
  school science teachers, and students in campus
  based Career Days, Earth Day, and science fairs.
• Development and implementation of an education
  and training program for high school science
  teachers.
• Expansion of the number of Earth Science and
  Environmental Science classes at participating
  high schools.
• Increasing the college level advanced standing
  courses offered for highs school students in
  chemistry, mathematics, and physics.

  their best practice strategies

  and workshop facilitator

Summary Statement

• Primary objectives of the workshops
• 1. To assist high school teachers in more
  effectively preparing students with the knowledge
  and skills to successfully pass Earth and
  Environmental Science courses.
• 2. Increase the number of students who pass NYS
  Earth and Environmental Science Regent Exams
• 3. Offer advanced standing courses in Math and
  Science to provide high school students with
  college credit towards college enrollment.
• 4. Advances standing courses help students pass
  CUNY Entrance Exams thus reduce need for remedial
  courses.
