Software

• Basically these new software packages will allow
  us to implement a bar coding system throughout
  the warehouse enabling our inventory to be
  monitored perpetually. Every time an item is
  received or shipped, it is processed through the
  corresponding bar code.

Datex EX-WMS

• It provides paperless, real-time controls across
  the operational spectrum of your warehousing
  functions. The system features complete facility
  operations functionality, extensive management
  tools, web services and a unique approach to
  labor management and requirements forecasting.
  Additionally, by utilizing radio frequency (RF
  and RFID) and bar code technology, the system
  tracks every item in your inventory by location,
  date received, lot number, or any other
  user-defined criteria in real time.

• GBMS WMS encompasses all of the day-to-day
  transactions that run a warehouse or distribution
  center.

Decision Process

• First of all we completed the Technology
  Evaluation Template to the best of our knowledge.
• We then created a pivot table of the data from
  the Rated spreadsheets. We ignored financial
  information because we felt they were almost
  identical from that standpoint and would look at
  that data after we found out which product had
  the better rating.
• By analyzing the pivot table, we found out that
  Datex EX-WMS, received a higher score than GBMS.
• We looked at the total points received because we
  felt that the template worked fairly well for our
  products. Even though Datex EX-WMS is 25,000
  more, we feel that overall Datex EX-WMS is the
  better choice and dont think that saving the
  money up front will benefit petPRO in the long
  run.
• When analyzing the different categories, Datex
  EX-WMS received a better rating in 3 of the 5
  categories, Technology, Security and Vendor
  Capability Requirements, and came a close second
  in the other two. We feel that these 3 categories
  are some of the most important issues that need
  to be addressed.

RECOMMENDATION

• After following the decision making process and
  identifying the need to implement a new software,
  we have decided that using Datex EX-WMS would be
  the most beneficial package to petPRO. It
  encompasses all of the bar coding needs and
  allows manipulation of data in a logical and
  thorough way. It will increase efficiency and
  accuracy within petPRO, which will benefit the
  end users, our customers, in the end.

Template Analysis

• Found Template to be beneficial in fully
  analyzing software packages
• However
• Some of the questions were too wordy, therefore
  making it difficult to interpret
• Some questions were very specific (ie clients)
  in which data was difficult to find
• Could ask more questions pertaining to details of
  product

Conclusion

• In Conclusion, it is evident that technology can
  bring value added to a company and give it a
  competitive advantage in the market, this is why
  we think that it would be beneficial for petPRO
  to implement the Datex software.
