Dedicated to the Mundaneum and to Paul Otlet,
visionary and pioneer of the early global

as he called them). Kind of like the Father
of HyperText.

REVIEW This has got to be one of the best
puzzle games I have played so far. At first the
cartoon-like graphics got me, and I thought, that
it's a somewhat easy, but at least a really cute
game. Then I realized after just 50 of the
regular levels, that it needs much more thinking,
than it seemed first. The level sets are clever,
the game is mixing the real hard ones with some
relaxing easier ones, even in one level set. The
Kids' levels are of course fairly easy, but I bet
that some of them will make even them thinking
about "what should I do here?". I really
recommend this one, for the whole family. Nice
graphics and brain-twisting gameplay, what else
could be needed? )

Revenge of the Logic Spiders helps students
apply deeper levels of comprehension and logic to
their schoolwork and to standardized and aptitude
tests. The game is fun, challenging, and an
effective independent learning program.Each
activity sharpens reasoning and comprehension
through multiple-choice word problems that become
progressively more challenging. Each possible
answer must be read and analyzed carefully. Only
the correct inferences and deductions allow
students to escape the hungry spiders.

- Youll have a whole new identity including
occupation, income, whether youre married or

You have a checking account with a register,
which will contain the money you earned as your
new identity. Then you get to make choices, like
the kind of house youll live in and what youre
going to eat, based on your identity. Every
choice you make costs money, which will be
deducted from the money in your checking
account. The trick to the game is to see if you
can make ends meet and still have some cash at
the end.

18Proof of Learning Assessment in Serious Games
- Who is the user of serious games?
- In Houston, Texas, a new hire steps onto a
simulated offshore drilling platform and
rehearses safety protocols. In Washington, D.C.,
a firefighter surveys a digital raging forest
fire and chooses locations for trenches and
firebreaks. A soldier in Iraq prepares for an
upcoming mission using a detailed simulation of
the urban battlefield. And a high school student
in Portland, Oregon, manages the political
campaign of Abe Lincoln as he tries to beat out
Rudy Giuliani in the presidential elections of
2008. - All these are users of serious games.
Games and game technology are poised to
transform the way we educate and train students
at all levels. But these games and repurposed
game technology, collectively called "serious
games," have yet to be fully embraced by
educators. It's not enough to declare that
"games teach" and leave it at that. Teachers
aren't going to hand out a game to a bunch of
students and simply trust that the students have
learned the material. Serious games, like every
other tool of education, must be able to show
that the necessary learning has occurred.
Specifically, games that teach also need to be
games that test.. Assessment in
