Cross Country
  • Cross Country---Get your computer match Monday
    and Tuesday are the last days to find that
    perfect match.
  • The Cross Country team is collecting old cell
    phones. If you have any please put them in the
    collection box located in the office or at the
    main desk in the lobby.

Special Olympics Swimming Meet
  • Special Olympics Swimming Meet
  • When March 24th
  • Time 845 and 900 AM, Volunteers arrive sould
    be finished around 100 pm
  • Place Spotsylvania YMCA
  • There will be two competitions, one for swimmers
    and one for non-swimmers. We will run it much
    like a regular swimming meet, with all the
    regular help timers, clerk of course, runners,
    scorer, safety marshals, concessions, and
    announcer. Experience is helpful but not
    required, we will show you how to help.
    Teenagers are very helpful!

Congratulations
  • Congratulations to both the competition WINTER
    GUARD AND WINTER DRUMLINE for their 2nd place
    finishes last Saturday in Virginia Beach.

GAPP PARTICIPANTS
  • GAPP PARTICIPANTS need to see Ms. Wallen or Mrs.
    Pody to verify their names in order for their
    plane tickets to be printed correctly-ASAP.
  • Once the tickets have been issued there will be a
    charge of 150 dollars for a name change. The
    name on the ticket must me the same name that
    appears on your passport.

Variety Show
  • The Chancellor VARIETY SHOW will be held on
    Friday night, March 30, in the High School
    auditorium beginning at 714PM. Tickets go on
    sale next week

Winter Showcase
  • Chancellor High School will host the WINTER
    SHOWCASE on Tuesday night, March 27 at 7PM. All
    of the Spotsylvania County Winter Guards and
    Drumlines from the 4 local high schools and guest
    groups from Northern Virginia and Richmond will
    perform their competition shows in exhibition and
    its ALL FREE. NEXT WEEK - Tuesday NIGHT!!!!!

Attention NHS members
  • All toys and school supplies for "Project Give"
    are due to Mrs. Holmes by Friday, 3/23. (which is
    a teacher workday.) Please make sure the toys are
    culturally appropriate for children in Iraq and
    Afghanistan.

  • All Easter basket goodies for Hope House are due
    to Mrs. Holmes by April 4th. Any other student
    or faculty member who would like to participate
    in this project is most welcome and appreciated.
    You may donate a finished basket or any of the
    basket "ingredients."

  • Courthouse Road Elementary is having their
    Spring Fling, Saturday, April 28th from 4-7 PM. 
    High School Volunteers are needed to man the
    games. If youre interested see Glad Coordinator,
    Ms. Brown in Room B239.

  • Meet representatives from the five Service
    Academies.
  • This will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 from
    845 a.m. - 1200 noon at the Steven Udvar-Hazy
    Center, Smithsonian National Air and Space
    Museum, 14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway,
    Chantilly, VA 20151

Off To College
  • Are you Prepared? March 28th starting at 630
    p.m. at Chancellor High School.
  • An informational program for all high school
    students and their parents. The 9th, 10th, and
    11th grade students/parents will be meeting with
    counselors and a college admissions officer to
    obtain information on what they should be doing
    in high school to prepare for college. The 12th
    grade students/parents will be meeting with Mrs.
    Litton to obtain information about making the
    transition from high school to college easier for
    the entire family.

WINTER SPORTS AWARDS DINNER
  • The winter sports awards dinner will be held
    Wednesday, March 21 with dinner at 600 in the
    cafeteria and the awards to be presented at 700
    in the auditorium. All winter athletes and their
    families are invited to attend this event.
    Athletes, coaches and Athletic Booster members
    are admitted free to the dinner, all others will
    be charged 3.00/per person.

  • The PTO is in need of additional funds to finish
    the activities for the year.  Please consider
    making a donation to help offset the costs of
    teacher appreciation, scholarships, etc... Any

The Great Train Race and Caboose Run
  • The 13th annual Great Train Race and Caboose Run
    will be held on Sunday, May 6th starting at 8
    a.m. This race is the largest youth road race in
    the United States. The Great Train Race is a
    one-mile event that begins at the corner of
    Caroline and Lafayette Blvd. and ends at the City
    Dock. The Caboose Run is a ¼ mile event that
    begins at the train bridge on Sophia St. and ends
    at City Dock. The first heat begins at 8 a.m.
    Each runner will receive a tee-shirt and a
    finishers medal. Trophies will be awarded to
    the top 3 finishers in each heat and to the top
    overall male and female finishers. There will
    also be awards for school that display the most
    school spirit. The Victor I. Culp Scholarship
    will be awarded on race day to a local runner who
    has shown achievement through running in his or
    her school. The run is hosted by the
    Fredericksburg Area Running Club (RunFarc.com).
    Proceeds from the race will benefit the
    Childrens Miracle Network (CMN.org). For more

    click the Great Train Race 2007 link. Mail-in
    registration deadline is April 21, 2007 and the
    online registration deadline is April 28th, 2007.
    Packet Pick-up will be at VA RUNNER (in Central
    Park) between Monday, April 30th May 5th
    (10am-7pm).

    Interested seniors can sign up in the Career

    needs to audition.
  • These auditions will take place after Spring
    Break.
  • Prepare your music over break.
  • You will have to provide your own CD player for
    the audition.

  • Graduation is around the corner.
  • Copies of speeches MUST be turned in to Mrs.
    Baird by Wednesday April 4th. Speeches should be
    approximately 2 minutes in length.
  • We will have a "speech" competition after we
    return from spring break. BUT SPEECHES MUST BE
    TURNED IN BY April 4th!!!!!!

  • Attention SENIORS Planning on enrolling in
    Germanna for Fall 2007.
  • Applications for Germanna Community College
    Educational Foundation scholarships are now
    online at
  • www.germanna.edu . Students need to apply to
    Germanna first, and can do so at the same
    website. When applying for eligible
    scholarships, students may hand-deliver
    scholarship applications to the Educational
    Foundation office, Room 107E, Locust Grove Campus
    or mail them to the Locust Grove Campus,
    postmarked by March 30, 2007. Recipients will be
    notified by May 1st. See Mrs. Bennett in the
    Career Center for more information.

Attention Rising Juniors or Seniors
  • Attention students Any rising junior or rising
    senior interested in taking Independent Study or
    the Mentor Apprenticeship Program next year
    should pick up application information from Mrs.
    Holmes by March 22nd. Students must then submit
    their proposals to Mrs. Holmes by April 16th.

BIOLOGY SOL TUTORING
  • Biology SOL Tutoring will now be available to any
    student on Mondays and Wednesdays from 230 to
    400pm beginning 2/28/07. Note This is a change
    from the previous schedule. Students should
    report to Ms. Rhodes in the Science Dept. Office
    for tutoring.

WORLD HISTORY SOL TUTORING
  • Attention students World History remediation
    will now be held on Monday and Thursday
    afternoons, from 230 to 400. These sessions are
    for serious students who wish to improve World
    History SOL scores. Please bring your text book
    and any class note that you have. You must have
    a ride home no later than 400. Remediation will
    meet in Room B133. See Mr. Dockery with any
    questions.

  • Classes held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 230 to
    400 in B215 unless otherwise scheduled.

  • Any Student out of school needs to bring a note
    for absence the VERY NEXT DAY on your return to
    school.
  • Someone is in the cafeteria from 715 to 750 to
    accept notes and give admit slips.

Career Center
  • The College of Information Science and Technology
    and the College of Arts and Sciences are hosting
    a Summer Bridge Program (SBP) in Information
    Technology and Mathematics from June 25th until
    June 29th, 2007 on the campus of Radford
    University. The program is designed for rising
    female juniors and seniors. Participants will
    include female students fro high schools within
    the Commonwealth of Virginia. No prerequisites
    are required. Registration fee is 100. See Mrs.
    Bennett in the Career Center for an application
    and more information.

    like to invite you and your junior-year math and
    science student to attend their annual
    ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE, on Monday, April 2, 2007,
    from 830am to 330pm. This is an excellent
    opportunity to learn about engineering and to

  • TJ's Catering is currently looking for part-time
    and full-time employees for their cafeteria at
    King's Dominion. These positions will be
    available for Spring, Summer and Fall. (Weekends
    only starting March 31st, with seasonal
    full/part-time positions beginning Memorial Day
    weekend). If you are looking for a fun

  • Longwood University, realizing that some parts of
    Virginia and the Northeast have been impacted by
    bad weather, is extending their application
    deadline to April 1, 2007. Students may apply
    online at www.longwood.edu. and click on Apply
    Now.

CAREER CENTER
  • The Virginia State Parks Youth Conservation is
    accepting applications for the summer 2007
    program. Youth crews consist of about 10 young
    people, ages 14-17 and three college-age or older
    crew supervisors. Each team lives in the park in
    a structured program of work and learning closely
    supervised by professional park staff and
    committed adult volunteers. By day, the crew
    carry out priority park development and
    maintenance projects, and after hours they take
    part in planned environmental education,
    teambuilding, worklife or job readiness training,
    and recreational activities. All meals and
    housing are provided and each youth participant
    receives a 500, program completion stipend. See
    Mrs. Bennett in the Career Center for more
    information or an application. Applications must
    be received by noon, April 13, 2007.

CAREER CENTER
  • The Washington Internship Experience is accepting
    applications for its unique and rewarding study
    seminars in Washington, DC for qualified and
    talented high school students from across the
    country. The program can be taken in 3 wk or
    longer segments starting June 17 through July 28.
    While in Washington, participants experience
    college living and dining on the campus of
    Marymount Univ. The Washington Internship
    Experience cost 3,250 plus a 150 application
    fee. For more information and an application,

    Interested students should apply in a timely
    fashion.

CAREER CENTER
  • The KUMON Math and Reading Center of
    Fredericksburg is looking for responsible high
    school juniors and seniors, with an interest in
    teaching, for part-time employment or students
    looking for volunteer community service hours
    after school. Students interested in the
    part-time employment positions should have at
    least a B average and excellent Math and
    Reading skills. This is an excellent opportunity
    to get paid while getting experience in the field
    of Education. See Mrs. Bennett in the Career
