In the 13th century Thomas Aquinas introduced
conditions which must be satisfied if a war is to
be seen as fair.

Now there are 6 recognised points of a Just War

• The war should be started and controlled by the
  ruler of the country.
• The people attacked must deserve to be.
• The war must be to avoid evil by promoting good.
  After the war peace must be restored.
• The war must be the last resort.
• Innocent members of the public should not be
  killed.
• The victory must offer more good than the evil
  that started the war.
