• A CLEAR STRATEGY FOR TESTING ALL FIRE / SMOKE
  DAMPERS IS RECOMMENDED AS PART OF ANY INITIAL
  PROPOSAL.
• THAT DAMPERS ARE CONSIDERED AS LIFE SAFETY
  PRODUCTS AND ARE TESTED IN LINE WITH OTHER FIRE
  EQUIPMENT.
• THAT O M MANUALS CLEARLY REFLECT THE IMPORTANCE
  OF REGULAR FUNCTIONAL TESTING.

• Fire and smoke dampers are life safety critical,
  they should be tested on a regular basis to
  ensure correct operation when required to operate
• Curtain dampers are rarely tested, if ever,
  manual testing is often a prodigious task
• Curtain dampers do not prevent the spread of
  cold
