Introduction to the Computer
  • Offered on the first Tuesday of every month in
    the Washington Learning Center Lab from 730 to
    830pm. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants
    who register by telephone or e-mail to the
    District 108 Tech Center. This class will be
    taught by a PCN volunteer.

Introduction to the Internet
  • Offered every Tuesday and Thursday of every month
    at the Pekin Public Library from 700 800pm.
    Enrollment is limited to 3 participants who
    register by telephone or e-mail to the Public
    Library or District 108 Tech Center . This class
    will be taught by one volunteer.

Purchasing a Home Computer
  • Offered on the third Thursday of every month at
    the Edison Junior High LC from 7 to 8pm.
    Enrollment is not limited, but registration is
    necessary and is done by telephone or e-mail
    through the District 108 Tech Center. The class
    is taught by one volunteer. The objective of this
    class is to provide consumers with the basic
    information needed when purchasing a new computer
    for home use. This is not a hands-on class.

The open labs will be monitored by a volunteer
who will receive incentives from PCN.
Participants will be required to sign in before
using a computer. The sign in sheet also doubles
as an acceptable use policy. Signing in to use
a computer signifies that you are agreeing to the
rules of the road which are also posted on the
wall.

Step 2 Senior Center Sites
Our responsibilities Repair and maintenance of
all PCN public access computers. If additional
phone line is needed, PCN will pay for first six
months of monthly service and local phone
charges. Internet Access charges that connect
the community network to the Internet Provide a
volunteer to help with trouble shooting
training on a part time basis

Step 2 Senior Center Sites
There responsibilities Host a PCN computer for
one year. Provide table(s) and chair for the
equipment. Make the computer readily
accessible, turned on and operating at all times
when your facility is open to the public.
Ensure that the primary use the computer is for
Internet and E-mail access. Pay for the local
phone charges (only exception is for those who
add an additional phone line - then PCN pays for
the first six months of service.)
